January 31, 2012 - SFL Calls on Provincial Government to Reject Harper Pension Cuts
Thousands of Saskatchewan people are concerned today about looming changes to Canada’s universal pension plan, specifically Old Age Security (OAS). Despite the nation’s strong economic position, especially in relation to the US and Europe, and despite the Harper Government’s fondness for dolling out tax breaks to corporations, the Prime Minister has indicated that he intends to make cuts to Canada’s highly-regarded pension program.
Late last week, representatives from the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour met with two Weyburn women who were fired from their long-time jobs in order to make room for temporary foreign workers.
Today, and every year on the second Wednesday of April, people around the globe will celebrate the International Day of Pink.
