Yesterday, the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) released its Annual Survey of violations of trade union rights. Canada has been cited due to the regressive legislation of the Saskatchewan Party government.
Today’s Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) report, which found that Saskatchewan is the fastest growing jurisdiction for temporary foreign workers in Canada, is the latest in a series of indicators showing that the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) has become a first resort of employers looking to drive down wages.
Late last week, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 529, which represents working people in the Saskatoon area and further north, filed an unfair labour practice application against employer Alliance Energy Industrial.
