Yesterday, the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) released its Annual Survey of violations of trade union rights. Canada has been cited due to the regressive legislation of the Saskatchewan Party government.
Working people across Saskatchewan were concerned today to learn that the provincial government’s plan for a new so-called “essential services” law includes taking a significant step backwards in terms of its scope.
In light of recent revelations about how a handful of Saskatchewan construction companies donated more than $64, 000 to the current government in 2011 alone – the same government that passed Bill 80 at the industry’s request in 2008 – the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour is calling for a ban on corporate political donations in the province.
