November 1 , 2010 - Convention Re-elects Larry Hubich SFL President
Longtime trade unionist and advocate for working people, Larry Hubich was re-elected today as President of the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour. A Convention of nearly 1000 delegates from 37 affiliated unions decided that President Hubich will continue to serve the Federation for a fifth term.
In response to the City of Saskatoon’s refusal to bargain in good faith, members of the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 615 have been forced to file an unfair labour practice application with the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board (LRB).
Today’s Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) report, which found that Saskatchewan is the fastest growing jurisdiction for temporary foreign workers in Canada, is the latest in a series of indicators showing that the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) has become a first resort of employers looking to drive down wages.
